No credit cards work in Iran due to US led sanctions. This means that you have to bring in all the cash that you are going to need with you when you enter the country. Most currencies seem to be fine but Euros are perhaps the easiest. It is best to change money on the street but negotiate the rate beforehand and remain firm when they try and charge you a commission.
