Brazil | Proof of onward travelHector Elliott | 08 Jan 2017

It may differ from person to person but we travelled through the majority of South America without any need of proof of onward travel out of the country. Flying into Brazil from Colombia was the only occasion that we needed to show that we would be leaving the country. Our plane ticket from Uruaguy back home was enough for us!

Brazil and the airlines are enforcing this. In Jan 2019 4 travellers were not allowed to fly to Brazil from London until they had proved to the airline that they were leaving Brazil. They had to quickly buy online bus tickets from Brazil to Paraguay whilst they were in London Gatwick.

So ensure you have onward proof of passage, perhaps an airline ticket out of Bolivia in 3 months time. If your plans are not clear then just buy a bus ticket out fo Brazil.
